Have you ever felt frustrated?

I know I have, and I'm pretty sure many of you have felt so too and it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Dota is a very stressful game, it doesn't matter if you're playing with friends or alone, unranked or not, you almost always end up wanting to kill someone.

In this little article I will try to help you overcome that feeling and to become a better player by giving you some short tips.

We oftentimes feel like our team "sucks", "blows", that they're "x-eaters" and that you are stuck in a matchmaking tier you do not belong to.

First of all, those people in your team (friends or not) are - at the end of the day - people like you; they want to win, they want to have fun, and they want to be better at the game, so... here comes the first tip to get better!

1. Do not blame your team.

First and mostly you must look at your own mistakes and learn from them, you're in charge of yourself. If you started the blame game not only your team would ignore you but they would start to hate you because "why is this random bad player trying to tell me what to do?". Blaming teammates creates discord inside your team, it makes everyone (including yourself) play worse. Don't do it.

Trust me, do not do it.

2. Try to keep the team spirit up!

It may sound dumb, you may have heard (or read) it before, but it's absolutely helpful and true. Keeping the team spirit up is empowering, and in contrast with the blame game, it's the right thing to do. If your team does something right, don't forget to use your Chat Wheel properly so they can read: "Well Played!"; it will make them feel good, it will make them feel like they did something right and that you appreciate it.

3. Be polite towards your team.

Being polite is never a bad thing, it can make the difference between your support buying wards or not, it makes the difference between someone coming to help your lane or letting you die alone.

Let's take for example these phrases:

"BUY SOME WARDS YOU [redacted]! " - Would you buy wards? I wouldn't.

"Support, we need wards, buy them" - A little better, I would probably buy the wards when I have gold for it.

"We need some wards, could you please buy some?" - Oh, he's using the magic word!, of course I can, let's buy those wards to help this nice guy.

4. Avoid all caps.

Many people (including myself) feel attacked and shouted at when someone uses all caps. Avoid them at all costs, keep your cool and forgive people.

5. Use the mute function.

We know there's just insufferable people that you won't be able to deal with so don't waste your time trying to argue with them, just mute them and keep enjoying your game!

Well, that's all for now, I hope these tips can help some people out there!
